Welcome to my website! I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Finance at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the same institution in August 2023.

Starting in August 2026, I will be a Limited-Term ("Visiting") Assistant Professor in the John Munro Godfrey, Sr. Department of Economics at the Terry College of Business, University of Georgia.

I am an applied microeconomist with research interests in health, labor, and public economics. My current work explores: 

• the relationship between labor supply, social insurance programs, and the health of individuals and their families;

• how workplace and income shape health behaviors and disparities in the US; and

• the economics of public healthcare provision in the context of developing countries.

(‘Guilherme’ is pronounced similarly to the Spanish ‘Guillermo,’ but ending in ‘e.’)
